       Privacy First Promise: StartReMinder is built with privacy-by-design. Your task data is stored in your own device's local storage and/or your private Google Drive account. We do not store, read, analyze, or sell your tasks or personal information on central servers.
    

1. Introduction

Welcome to StartReMinder ("we", "our", or "the application"). This Privacy Policy explains how our personal productivity and task management web application collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our services.

2. Data Collection and Storage

StartReMinder operates primarily as a client-side, user-sovereign application:

Local Mode: When using StartReMinder in Local Mode, all task data, checklists, categories, preferences, and alarm settings are stored locally on your device within your browser's private local storage. No task data leaves your machine.
Google Cloud Integration (Optional): If you choose to connect your Google Account, StartReMinder connects directly to Google APIs using official OAuth 2.0 protocols to enable private cloud backup and calendar synchronization.

3. Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance

StartReMinder's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, StartReMinder requests the following scopes solely for direct user-facing functionality:

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile & userinfo.email: Used exclusively to identify your profile (name and email) for your personalized experience.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file: Used strictly to create and update your dedicated StartReMinder/startreminder_data.json file in your own Google Drive. StartReMinder cannot access, view, or modify any other files in your Google Drive.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events: Used solely to sync tasks that have due dates and reminders to your primary Google Calendar as calendar events.

4. We Do Not Sell or Share Your Data

We do not sell, rent, monetize, or transfer your personal data, Google user data, or task content to third parties, advertising networks, data brokers, or external AI model trainers.

5. Security of Your Information

Authentication and authorization are performed via secure HTTPS encrypted channels. Sensitive OAuth access tokens are held transiently in your browser session and are never transmitted to third parties.

6. User Control and Data Revocation

You maintain full control of your data at all times:

You can export or download your full task data as a standard JSON file at any time via the Settings menu.
You can revoke StartReMinder's access to your Google Account at any time through Google Account Security Settings.
Signing out removes all active session tokens from your browser.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revisions will be reflected on this page with an updated Effective Date.
